Merit Academy is in its start-up phase and, as is common with other non-profit contract or charter schools of choice, we need seed funding and donations. Start up funding usually averages a minimum of $500,000 in year one, and $200,000 each year for years two through five, until the school reaches maturity. These costs include  hiring, professional development, technology, curriculum, security, classroom furniture, library materials, art and music supplies, transportation, and other start-up/expansion expenses.

 

There is little to no seed funding through government entities for these start-up costs.  Many grants are geared to urban, and not rural, school choice options.

 

We have tremendous support by many community members. There is an overwhelming desire for a virtues-based, classical, Core Knowledge, parent/community-led school in the area. However, to truly be successful, our 501c3 school also needs financial support.
